Skin✓ Van ("Skin Check Van")

Our Skin✓ Van is bringing cancer-prevention education to a neighborhood near you!

The University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center and the Friends of the UH Cancer Center are committed to  bringing education on the risks and prevention of skin cancer to every community across Oahu.  Skin cancer can affect anyone, regardless of a person's age, sex, or skin complexion! Our Skin✓ Van is equipped with sunscreen, educational materials, and computerized tools for measuring sun damage to your skin and showing you what you could look like if you don't protect yourself.  The Skin✓ Van will travel to beaches, courts, parks, and other outdoor venues across Oahu, spreading awareness of skin cancer and methods of prevention.

The Skin✓ Van is an education initiative and generally does not provide skin cancer screenings.  However, when possible, the Skin✓ Van may occasionally be able to include a dermatologist or other doctor.

For diagnosis and/or treatment, please contact your primary care physician or a dermatologist.

For the latest, most accurate information on skin cancer, including melanoma, visit the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) website.  You can also call the NCI's Cancer Information Service at 1-800-4-CANCER (1-800-422-6237).

Our Helpful Resources tab below includes guidance on where to find a dermatologist if you don't have one.
