Hawaiʻi Cancer Consortium

The University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center is recognized by the National Cancer Institute as an NCI-designated cancer center. The consortium represents the unified basic, translational, and clinical cancer research effort benefiting all citizens of Hawaiʻi and the Pacific Rim. The members are comprised of the UH Cancer Center and its clinical partners, The Queen's Medical Center, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health, Kuakini Medical Center, and UH Mānoa's John A. Burns School of Medicine.


To substantially reduce the burden of cancer for the people of Hawaiʻi and elsewhere through the support of clinical and translational cancer research.


To support the UH Cancer Center in achieving its mission and enhancing the ability of the UH Cancer Center to make substantive advances in the areas of cancer research, education, community outreach and oncology practice.

The University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center's purpose is to develop new strategies for discovery, drive findings into clinical practice, and deliver the optimal outcome when a patient is faced with the prospect of treatment and recovery. The UH Cancer Center houses the central administrative and organizational structure of the Hawaii Cancer Consortium and provides a central authority to focus and organize its efforts and resources for the efficient and synergistic accomplishment of the Consortium's goals.

Hawaiʻi Pacific Health offers comprehensive cancer care for patients, pools the expertise of its cancer specialists in tumor boards, and conducts clinical trials in new cancer therapies.

Kuakini Medical Center's Oncology Services utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to address each cancer patient's individual needs. Services include prevention and early detection, treatment and medical care, education and support services. Kuakini Health Care Team members also participate in numerous community activities and events by providing information, education and free screenings
