Emily Yang, a former 2019 University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center summer intern, was awarded a scholarship from the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. Yang is currently an undergraduate student at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Yang said she was grateful for the guidance she received from her research mentor, Haining Yang, MD, PhD, UH Cancer Center researcher.

The consortium includes The Queen’s Health Systems, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health, Kuakini Medical Center, Adventist Health Castle, Hawaiʻi Medical Service Association (HMSA), and the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), all working together with the UH Cancer Center to advance cancer research and treatment in the state.
