Research Focus

Dr. Okimoto's research interests include the mathematical modeling of complex diseases such as cancer using interacting networks of genes and proteins. Specific areas of interest include the molecular diagnosis of cancer, molecular prediction of clinical outcomes in cancer, molecular subtyping of cancer, whole-genome detection of genes and pathways that modulate cancer progression using DNA microarrays, and the systems biology of cancer involving the fusion of multiple genomic data types for the enhanced modeling of cancer as a complex dynamical system.
